Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba claims he passed on opportunities to sign for Barclays Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea to join the Serie A champions.

Pogba, who began his professional career at Manchester United, was heavily courted towards the end of the 2011/12 season when it became increasingly apparent he was not going to extend his contract with the English giants.
Regarded as one of the brightest prospects in European football, the Frenchman eventually opted to sign for the Bianconeri and his decision proved to a be a wise one as he was part of the side that won the Scudetto last season.
However, the 20-year-old has since revealed there was plenty of interest in his services from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, but insists he only ever thought about joining Juve.
“Sir Alex Ferguson tried to keep me at Manchester United, but he didn’t get very far,” he told Sky Sport Italia.
“Other clubs were tracking me but I only had Juve in my mind.
“At the time, I heard from Chelsea, Arsenal and Milan, but nobody is like Juve.”
The all-action midfielder also claimed that part of his decision to join the Turin outfit was his desire to follow in the footsteps of several French greats who have plied their trade for the club, including the likes of Michel Platini, Zinedine Zidane and Didier Deschamps.
“Since childhood I’ve always like Juve and supported that team,” Pogba revealed.
“For the French this club means a great deal, as so many French champions played in Turin, so that’s why I liked them.
“I am happy to be here and I want to win many trophies with this jersey.”
Despite his tender years, Pogba has already established himself as an important member of coach Antonio Conte’s squad, despite having to fight with the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Claudio Marchisio and Arturo Vidal for a spot in the Bianconeri engine room.
