• United relying on Ferguson to sign Ronaldo

Manchester United remains extremely interested in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo back into its ranks, and appears to be willing to do anything to achieve its objective.

The next move by the English champions might be to use the excellent relationship between the Portuguese star and Sir Alex Ferguson in order to convince the player that his best option is to leave Real Madrid this summer and return to the club, United, and the stadium, Old Trafford, which saw him make the leap to the big time.

According to a report in The Sun today, Saturday, the Madrid number 7 had practically ruled out signing for Manchester United after Alex Ferguson stepped down. However, the club hopes that a chat between the two might change that, if the Scotsman explains that he will continue to work backstage with the club’s directors and that he would be there for him whenever he needs him.

Whatever happens, Real will not let go of its trademark striker easily, and a Ronaldo exit from the Santiago Bernabéu is looking extremely complicated (if not impossible).

The Sun also reports that if United fails to secure Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Old Trafford, it plans to launch an offensive to pick up Welshman Gareth Bale, a player who is also in Real Madrid’s crosshairs.
