- Vietnam will face Singapore after cruising past Hong Kong into AYA Bank Cup final18:36 | 04/06/2016
Vietnam defeated Hong Kong (China) 4-3 in a tense penalty shootout on June 3 to book a place in the final of the AYA Bank Cup 2016 in Yangon, Myanmar.
Vietnam created a number of scoring chances in the first half but failed to score due to a lack of accuracy in the attacks.
Four minutes after the break, Hong Kong suddenly cruised to the lead with a simple opener by captain Jamies MacKee.
Striker Le Cong Vinh equalised for Vietnam in the 58th minute before putting the red colour side ahead with his second goal three minutes later.
However, defensive mistakes made Vietnam pay as MacKee went on to score in the 77th minute to restore the parity, forcing the match to be decided on penalties.
Vietnam won the penalty shootout with a score of 4-3 to set up a final match with Singapore, who edged out hosts Myanmar 1-0 in the second semifinal the same day.
