Ancelotti to get his walking papers in “a question of hours”

Real Madrid’s signing of Ancelotti appears to be imminent. Both ‘L’Equipe’ and ‘Le Parisien’ agree that Carlo will be set free from the PSG camp “in a question of hours.”

Ancelotti-LIlle

According to ‘L’Equipe’, PSG has been talking to Swansea manager Michael Laudrup with the idea of him taking charge of the Parisian team next season.

The Dutchman, who has a contract with his Welsh club until 2015, is interested, even though according to the newspaper, he hasn’t been offered more than just a year’s contract with the possibility of it being extended.

‘L’Equipe’ has revealed that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is not having the easiest of times convincing a manager to sign for just the one season. Waiting in the wings with a 9-month suspension is his sports director Leonardo, who both were hoping would be able to be the club’s new manager after Ancelotti’s exit.

‘Le Parisien’ predicts that the curtains will soon come down on “the Ancelotti show”, as PSG will be giving him his leaving papers before the weekend.

Chelsea confirm deal to sign André Schürrle from Bayer Leverkusen

José Mourinho has completed the first signing of his second spell at Chelsea with the €22m (£18.7m) capture of André Schürrle from Bayer Leverkusen in a move that will further strengthen his options in the attacking line behind the striker.

Schürrle, who is most comfortable on the left wing where he can cut inside on to his favoured right foot, but can also play as a No10, has been a long-standing Chelsea target, having first come to the club’s attention with his performance for Leverkusen in the Champions League at Stamford Bridge in September 2011.

The deal for him had been at an advanced stage for several months but Leverkusen did not want to confirm it until they had signed a replacement. They did so on Thursday lunchtime when they announced that the attacking midfielder Son Heung-min had joined from Hamburg which, in turn, allowed Chelsea to release a statement on their website that Schürrle had signed subject to the successful completion of a medical.

Mourinho, who was confirmed as Chelsea’s new manager at the beginning of last week, was in charge at Real Madrid when the club laid the groundwork for the transfer but he gave his blessing to it, after making a check call to Michael Ballack, who was in his squad during his first spell at Stamford Bridge. Ballack became a team-mate of Schürrle’s when he rejoined Leverkusen in 2010.

Chelsea had explored the possibility of a part-exchange deal for Schürrle involving the Belgium winger Kevin De Bruyne, who they signed from Genk in January 2012. De Bruyne was immediately loaned back to Genk while he spent last season on loan at Werder Bremen, meaning that he has yet to play for Chelsea.

De Bruyne, though, favours a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund and the likelihood of him getting his wish has now increased. He has also attracted the interest of Schalke.

Schürrle, 22, has scored seven times in 24 appearances for Germany and is the prototype Mourinho winger, being fast, direct and effective on the counter. Mourinho considers him to offer different qualities to Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Oscar and Victor Moses, although Schürrle will compete for a starting place with them.

Cristiano Ronaldo denies signing new Real Madrid contract

Cristiano Ronaldo has denied that he has signed a new contract extension to keep him at Real Madrid until 2018.

The Portugal international was responding after a day of speculation surrounding his future at Santiago Bernabeu, with some reports claiming he had put pen to paper on a new three-year deal.

But Ronaldo took to Twitter to dismiss the claims that he had already signed fresh terms.

“All the news about my renewal is false,” Ronaldo wrote.

The speculation came after Madrid president Florentino Perez announced earlier in the week that his intention was to make the Portugal international the highest paid player in the world.

Ronaldo has been linked with a €100million (£85m) move to free-spending Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco, while former club Manchester United are also said to be monitoring his situation.

In a bid to ward off any interested parties, however, Madrid were thought to be preparing an offer that would see the player earn €80million over five seasons and cost the club €166million in total when tax is included.

Perez certain of Zidane coaching role at Real

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez believes Zinedine Zidane will “help shape improvements to the squad” next season – possibly as assistant coach.

vnm_2013_3492691

The capital club have spent the past few weeks pondering who will replace Jose Mourinho following the Portuguese’s departure for Chelsea after three years in the Bernabeu hotseat.
Paris St Germain’s Carlo Ancelotti has emerged as the favourite to land the role, though the French champions have made it clear they expect the Italian to honour the final year of his contract.
Perez revealed last week that Zidane, who has remained with Real in various roles since hanging up his boots in 2006, was considering turning his hand to coaching, and last night appeared certain the Frenchman would have a part to play in the club’s fortunes next term – albeit not as head coach.
“At this point we need a coach who really knows us, and the Italian Carlo Ancelotti knows us because four years ago I tried to sign him and couldn’t,” Perez told Spanish radio station EsRadio.
“If PSG will let him go, we are happy – and if not, (that’s fine) too. But I think this issue will not last for much longer.”
On 1998 World Cup winner Zidane, he continued: “What is certain is that Zidane wants to be a coach (but) I think you should not start directly with the Real Madrid first team.
“He himself does not want that. It could be that he serves as (Aitor) Karanka did for Mourinho (as assistant), or he could train one of the youth sides, but above all he’s going to help us shape improvements to the squad for next season.”
As for possible signings, Perez was not naming names but vowed to do all in his power to strengthen the squad for 2013/14 after Barcelona regained the Primera Division title last term.
“Anything that improves us, we will, but we do not have any players for sale,” he said.
“It’s early June. There is plenty of time. Now have to sort the subject of the coach and then we’ll talk about players.
“With me, people don’t have to worry. If there is a great player, everyone knows I will try to sign him.”

Zanetti pens one-year Inter Milan extension

Javier Zanetti has signed a new one-year contract with Inter Milan, the Serie A club have announced.

Inter

The 39-year-old, who has made more than 600 appearances for the club, has not played since late April when he ruptured the Achilles tendon in his left foot during a defeat by Palermo.
Despite being faced with a lengthy absence from action which may rule him out until late autumn, the Argentinian insisted he had no plans to retire and now the club have rewarded Zanetti with another year at the San Siro.
Zanetti told intermilan.it: “First of all I’d like to thank the club for the faith they’ve shown in me.
“We spoke at length about my injury and we decided to do another year.
“They’ve again shown they believe in me and my passion for Inter.
“I hope I can pay back their affection on the pitch.
“I’d like to thank the many fans who have sent their love over the last few weeks, and they’ve done likewise with the team in the first few days of the season ticket campaign, showing they’ll be with us next season.
“I’m doing everything I can to come back fit and healthy, and to be ready for the coach and my team-mates.”
