A bit surprisingly in 4th round of HCMC Futsal Cup when Anna FC players drawn Thai Son Nam District 8 4-4. Early in first half, Van Trung and Xuan Huy handed Anna FC the lead by their 2 goals. However, Thai Son Nam District 8 grew up and responded with 3 goals in just 5 minutes later. The run became more exciting in the second half when Viet Hong leveled the match to 3-3; after that Cong Danh gave Anna FC the lead again after a wonderful play. In the last minute of the game, Quang Son secured 1 point for Thai Son Nam by scoring a precious goal.

With higher quality squad, there’s no doubt when Sai Gon FC had an easy game before their opponent. Thanh Hoai scored an opening goal in the very early minute and a Van Truong hat-trick helped his side cruise to a comfortable 4-0 win. In the 4th round there’s also an exciting encounter between Hai Phuong Nam FC and Network. Hai Phuong Nam went up with a goal, but goals from Tan Phat and Phi Tien at minutes 11, 14 and 18 turned the game on Network head. After the
break, Hai Phuong Nam showed a different face and completed a wonderful 4- 3 comeback. An impressive win by Dat Vinh Tien to Tan Hiep Hung began after Eban put his team ahead early on, then 2 goals by Tran Van Hung brought Dat Vinh Tien precious 3 points.

HCMC Futsal Cup 5th round witnessed a blasting 2-0 win from Tan Hiep Hung after their impressive show ahead Hai Phuong Nam. Sai Gon FC also had a comfortable 4-3 win to Anna FC. Metasol and Dat Vinh Tien displayed an extremely dramatic match. A really good Catenaccio style from Dat Vinh Tien helped them to score an opening goal. In the second half, Metasol came back with
2 goals by Luc Quoc and Duy Khanh. However, excellent shows from Thai Thanh, Eban and Vinh Thai helped their team score 3 goals in a row to complete the 4- 2 turnaround. Thai Son Nam had a comfortable 2-0 win after an easy 40 minutes ahead under-side-Networld.

So, after 5 rounds, Thai Son Nam and Dat Vinh Tien shared the 1st and 2nd position in the table with 13 and 10 points. Networld was holding the last one with just 1 won and 4 losts while Anna FC, Sai Gon FC and Tan Hiep Hung got the same 4 points.

When being asked that how big the Xi Mang Xuan Thanh Saigon budget is in the new season to spend for the three leagues: AFC Cup, V-league and National Cup, former president Nguyen Duc Thuy stood up and said that the budget will be not lower than 50 billion.

To ensure that, the new president Nguyen Xuan Thuy stated it again: “50 billion is the money that Xuan Thanh Cement Company will spend for 2013 season, instead of 25 billion as people said”.

Also in the ceremony, Mr.Nguyen Xuan Thuy promised to turn Xi Mang Xuan Thanh Saigon into one of the best teams in Vietnam and help the club to build up a youth training system methodically.

About the issues involved in Navibank Saigon former players, Mr.Thuy insisted that he will resolve it completely in at least three to four more weeks.

Speeding up school football movement

“Seeking for Vietnamese academic futsal talents” program this year which was organized by HCMC Football Federation (HFF) in cooperation with HCMC Department of Education and Training has partly shown a new  breakthrough in school football movement. The success of the program was revealed instantly in the first days of the selection. The highlighting point of the program is the ardent passion and participation of several students and pupils  as well as the enthusiastic support of teachers and lecturers.

Mr.Tran Anh Tu – President of HFF – insisted: “Today almost every university and college has their own multi-purpose gymnasium, thus, it is suitable to develop futsal. On the other hand, artificial grass fields with five-player football has developed recently, this is a good foundation for the development of school football. The first goal of this program is to popularize futsal to schools so that students and pupils can be aware of interesting things of football and love this sport. Actually, at this time we do not attach much importance to finding talents to supplement for futsal clubs. What we hope is that school football will grow up strongly, and as a result, HCMC football will be more developed.

He continued: “The major reason why HCMC football has gone down is the weakness in youth training. We did not pay attention to soccer teachers. And weak teachers cannot result in good learners. In addition, seeking talented players seem to be so difficult as parents do not want their children to participate in top sports, especially football. Therefore, the important mission in the coming time is to rehabilitate youth football. Specifically, beside organizing vocational competitions, HFF also has to bring football into schools. As school football is developed, there are many sources for coaches to select players”.

Big spending football club now calls for money aid

Known for its lavish spending to recruit good players over the last two seasons, the Ho Chi Minh City-based football club Saigon Xuan Thanh (SGXT) is calling on the municipal authorities for monetary support in the 2013 season as they are now in economic troubles.

cau-cuu

Saigon Xuan Thanh chairman Nguyen Duc Thuy (L) poses for a photo with the 2012 National Cup trophy at Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, August 29, 2012.

SGXT has sunk some VND170 billion, or US$8.1 million, to fortify its squad, which indeed enabled it to win the championship of the second-tier league First Division in 2011, finish third at the 2012 V-League, and finally, snatch the 2012 National Cup trophy.

But the club could not avoid the economic malaise that has sent a number of other clubs into a tough spot ahead of the coming 2013 season.

Earlier in November, chairman Nguyen Duc Thuy has called on the city’s authorities for some monetary aids, while the club itself has implemented some methods to reduce expenses.

SGXT refused to extend the contract with Huynh Kesley, and slashed the monthly wages to other players by as much as 40 percent.

Yet the club still has to earmark $22,000 a month to pay salary for Nguyen Rogerio and Antonio as it has yet to be able to sell these two Brazilian stars.

The salary budget will only be enlarged next year with the arrivals of other domestic stars including Quang Hai, Tai Em, Viet Cuong, and Long Giang, as they are transferred from the dissolved Naviabank Saigon FC.

SGXT currently owes its players two to three months of salary, its managing director Tran Tien Dai admitted.

The club has managed to gain some VND2 – 3 billion from selling several Navibank Saigon players, which enabled it to repay the domestic players VND10 million each, and the two foreigners, $2,000.

Dai said the club is considering cutting more players’ salaries to save costs.

The club needs a VND41 billion budget to be playing at the V-League, the National Cup, and the AFC Cup next year, but its sponsor Xuan Thanh Group has only agreed to disburse VND25 billion.

“The biggest headache is thus to find supports for the remaining VND16 billion,” he said.

No money help

In a document sent to the city’s authorities, chairman Thuy cited the cases of other provinces, which have actually opened their pockets to assist the clubs headquartered in their areas.

“Thanh Hoa FC has been supported VND40 billion per season, and Vissai Ninh Binh too received VND20 billion a season from the province,” he said.

“Meanwhile, over two years representing for the city’s football and won trophies, we have never received any financial supports from the municipal authorities,” he added.

However, deputy director of the city’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, Mai Ba Hung, said the city may not be able to assist SGXT with money.

“We can only support the club in terms of youth training, accommodation and practice places, and competing venues…but not money,” he said.

Asked what if SGXT eventually fails to afford its budget and thus has to be dissolved, Hung said it will be a great pity.

“But we will start everything from the beginning,” he said.

Navibank Saigon FC dissolved

On December 5, Navibank Saigon FC declared its dissolution because the FC did not find any sponsor. Meanwhile, Saigon Xuan Thanh FC is unlikely to attend the 2013 football season.

navi

After Navibank stated to return the Navibank Saigon FC back to the HCM City Football Federation, the Ninh Binh-based Xuan Thuy Investment and Development Corporation bought the team at the price of VND21 billion ($1 million).

However, Xuan Thuy just purchased the team for commercial purposes rather than investing in the team. After Hai Phong refused to buy it, Xuan Thuy planed to give the club to Ha Tinh Province but Ha Tinh leaders also refused to take it.

In the last two months, Saigon Xuan Thanh FC’s CEO Tran Tien Dai, a reputed football broker, tried to look for a partner to transfer Navibank Saigon. The team’s price was slashed from VND10 billion ($500,000) to VND5 billion ($250,000) but no company wanted to buy it. The HCM City Football Federation did not want to keep this club.

Not being sold, on December 5, Dai announced to dissolve Navibank Saigon.

According to Dai, five players of Navibank Saigon have been employed by Saigon Xuan Thanh FC, including Quang Hai, Tai Em, Long Giang, Viet Cuong and goalkeeper Quoc Cuong. The transfer price is only from VND200 to VND300 million ($10,000-15,000) per player.

The remaining players will be facilitated to end their contracts with Navibank Saigon to find a new job with other clubs.

Earlier, Hanoi FC and Young Hanoi FC, owned by the arrested banker Nguyen Duc Kien, were dissolved.

CEO Tran Tien Dai also said that Saigon Xuan Thanh FC’s attendance at the 2013 football season is still open because of financial problems.

“We are in economic difficulties. Thuy (the FC’s owner) said to cut down funding for the team by 45% compared to the previous season. The club still owes some players four months’ salary. We have asked for help from the Ho Chi Minh City authorities, but we have not received a response. Therefore, the FC may not compete in the next football season,” Dai said.

Meanwhile, Ninh Binh FC may be also dissolved. A few weeks ago, some players went on a strike and the club’s owner was intended to disband the team. Also on December 5, Truong told correspondents that he was depressed with football. He is more likely to disband Ninh Binh FC.

The situation at the the First Division and V-League clubs is now very complex. It is rumored that Khanh Hoa FC will be sold to Hai Phong. Ba Ria – Vung Tau FC which has just got a card to the First Division Tournament 2013 has just been disbanded due to lack of funds.

Previously, because of the economic difficulties of footall teams, the organizers of V-League and First Division Tournament delayed the registration dealine of the 2013 season from November 3 to December 8. However, the situation has not been improved.

The chief organizer Tran Duy Ly said until December 8, the organizing board can determine the participating teams and then make specific plans for the new season.

Saigon Xuan Thanh boss to offer club to city

V-League football club Saigon Xuan Thanh will be offered as a gift to Ho Chi Minh City authorities and fans, club chairman Nguyen Duc Thuy said on Thursday.

Sai-gon-xuanthanh

The boss said he submitted a document regarding the handover to the city’s authorities on the same day.

“The offer means that I commit to not transfer Saigon Xuan Thanh to any other locality but HCMC,” he explained.

The decision was made following recent rumors that Thuy would stop investing in the city’s football club and bring it to another province or city, he added.

Thuy said he wants to stay with the city and contribute to sustainably developing Saigon Xuan Thanh into a club that really represents the city’s football.

In the 2012 season, Saigon Xuan Thanh won the National Cup, and finished third at the top-flight V-League.

In related football news, Dong Tam Long An players have recently complained that they have yet to receive their cash bonuses four months after winning the championship of the First Division, as Long An authorities and the club boss had previously promised.

An official in the club’s management panel confirmed with Tuoi Tre that they are indebted to the players.

“The province promised to reward VND1 billion, but has so far disbursed only VND300 million,” the official said.

The club is waiting for disbursement from its sponsors to be able to fully repay the players, he added.

“I call for sharing from the players, and the club is hoping to provide full payment within this month,” he promised.
