Nasiruddin, 52, and two other persons, including a Singaporean, bribed the technical director of the Timor-Leste Football Federation, Orlando Marques Henriques Mendez, with 15,000 SGD (nearly 11,000 USD) in return for East Timor’s loss against Malaysia in their opening match on May 30.

In fact, Timor-Leste’s U23 team lost 1-0 to the Malaysian rivals in the match.

Nasiruddin was also allegedly accused of giving money to seven Timor-Leste players in the match.

Comedian charged over Blatter money-throwing Fifa stunt

The outgoing Fifa president was showered with fake cash by the British man as he held a press conference on Monday and is facing charges of trespassing

Comedian Simon Brodkin has been charged with trespassing by police in Switzerland after interrupting a press conference held by Fifa president Sepp Blatter.

The British man, 38, halted proceedings by showering fake bank notes over the head of football’s world governing body on Monday.

A statement from a police spokesperson read: “He will be charged for trespassing because he wasn’t allowed to enter the building.

“If there will be a trial it is still to be decided by the prosecutor. Trespassing in Switzerland is just prosecuted by request like other minor crimes.”

Brodkin – who is known by his stage name Lee Nelson – has performed a number of stunts, including invading Kanye West’s set at Glastonbury earlier this summer.

Blatter has been at the centre of the ongoing Fifa corruption controversy, which culminated in the indictment of 14 football figures by the FBI in May.

The aftermath of the arrests in Zurich led to Blatter announcing he was standing down as head of Fifa and his press conference on Monday was to reveal the election date will be on February 26, 2016.

Dortmund 4-1 Luzern: Grosskreutz returns in routine win

BVB bounced back from last week’s defeat to Bochum with a comfortable victory on Tuesday

Borussia Dortmund put last week’s friendly defeat to Bochum behind them with a commanding 4-1 pre-season friendly triumph over Luzern.

Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel oversaw a run of three wins, which included 17 goals, before a 2-1 defeat to Bochum on Friday, but there was no risk of a repeat result on Tuesday.

Goals from Marco Reus, Kevin Kampl, Mats Hummels and Moritz Leitner were enough to see off Luzern in Switzerland, with the hosts responding through Frane Cirjak.

Reus put the visitors ahead in the 10th minute with a cool finish from Shinji Kagawa’s square pass.

The Japan international also laid on the second for Kampl 12 minutes later, chipping in a cross for his fellow midfielder to nod home from close range.

With the hosts struggling to create any chances of note, Dortmund increased their hold on the game with two goals in the opening 16 minutes of the second half.

Hummels netted a superb half-volley from the edge of the box and Leitner turned in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s pass to make it 4-0.

Luzern finally mounted a response courtesy of Cirjak, before Kevin Grosskreutz came on for the final few minutes following five months out with a knee injury.

Tuchel’s side face Serie A champions Juventus on Saturday.

Binh Duong slip from top of V-League 1

The loss saw Binh Duong lose their top position in the rankings to Thanh Hoa, who defeated Can Tho 2-0.

Pape Omar Faye scored a goal in the 42nd minute, and Duc Tuan scored again four minutes later.

Binh Duong are now placed second in the rankings with 32 points, two less than Thanh Hoa, who achieved their fourth win in a row.

Yesterday’s victory helped Khanh Hoa improve their position in the rankings. They are now ranked seventh with 24 points and will meet Quang Nam in the next round.

Quang Nam yesterday scored a 4-0 win over Hoang Anh Gia Lai on their home turf. Their biggest victory ever in V.League 1 lifted them in the rankings while pushing the visitors deeper into crisis.

Coach Guillaume Graechen said at the post-match briefing that Hoang Anh Gia Lai were “paralytic” after their 11th winless match.

The former champions, who had started the season with a promise to spring a surprise, have almost hit rock bottom when it comes to rankings, though all their players were trained methodically by international trainers employing advanced techniques.

Graechen said his lack of experience in his first V.League 1 year was part of the reason his team had played below expectations. He said his players were very young and needed time to sharpen their skills in the tough competition.

The Frenchman said Hoang Anh Gia Lai would improve soon once their injured players are back in action in the next few weeks.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai have 10 points, the same as bottom-placed Dong Nai, who managed a surprise 1-1 draw against Song Lam Nghe An after conceding a goal in the 13th minute.

Ha Noi T&T scored a big win yesterday, trouncing Dong Thap 7-0 with the help of a hat-trick by Nguyen Van Quyet and a double by Gonzalo after Hoang Vu Samson’s opener. The remaining goal was an own goal by defender Quoc Anh.

At the Lach Tray Stadium, hosts Hai Phong were held to a 1-1 draw by Dong Tam Long An.

In another match, Quang Ninh Coal defeated former champions SHB Da Nang 1-0.

Ryan set for Valencia move

The 23-year-old, who has twice been named the Belgian Pro League Goalkeeper of the Year, will undergo a medical at the Mestalla

Australia and Club Brugge goalkeeper Mat Ryan is set to join Valencia for a reported €5 million, pending a medical.

The 23-year-old has starred since his move to Europe in 2013 and twice been named the Belgian Pro League Goalkeeper of the Year.

Ryan has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool and was also the 2015 Asian Cup goalkeeper of the tournament.

“If I pass my medical tests, I will indeed leave Club Brugge. It’s been a joy to be in this warm and amical club,” he told the club’s website.

“They have done everything they could to keep me another year which made it even harder for me to make this choice. I’ve had a wonderful time at the club but now it’s time to take this next step.

“Last season I already declined a nice offer, but this time I couldn’t. I’m very grateful that club gave me this chance in Europe.

“For a young lad there’s no better club to develop. I have faith that The Blues will add more silverware soon and I’m their number one fan from now on. And last but not least: a big thank you for the best fans of Belgium.”

Club Brugge general manager Vincent Mannaert has backed Ryan to shine in Spain, but admitted he would have loved to keep the shot-stopper for another season.

“We hate to see Mat go, but we realise that this is a logical step in his career. We’ve tried to keep him at Club for at least one year but he had made his mind up,” he said.

“We’re nevertheless very grateful for what he’s done the past two seasons. He’s a top player and just like Carlos Bacca he will deliver in the Primera Division.

“This goodbye doesn’t change our ambitions for our next season. We’re already in contact with the possible replacer of Maty.”

Ryan could start the 2015-16 as Valencia’s first choice goalkeeper, with Diego Alves recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Guardiola enters politics to support Catalan independence

The coach has lent his name to a pro-independence party in a symbolic gesture aimed at boosting the chances of separatism from Spain

Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola is to stand for office in the parliamentary elections to be held in Catalunya in September.

The former Barcelona boss is a staunch supporter of independence for the region in which he grew up and believes lending his name to the campaign of pro-secession party Convergencia i Esquerra will boost hopes of separatism from Spain.

Guardiola has no intention of becoming a Member of Parliament, reports in Catalunya claim, but is keen to add weight to the fight for independence in the forthcoming elections.

The 44-year-old coach is the last name on the “parliamentary list”, which also brings together a number of separatist groups in an attempt to push for secession.

The announcement was made by MEP Ramon Tremosa on Twitter, with the list to be officially unveiled later on Monday in Barcelona.

Guardiola has participated in the Diada (Catalunya’s national day, celebrated on September 11) for the past three years, sending a video message from New York during his sabbatical in 2012.

The former Barca captain also returned to the Catalan capital last November to vote in a referendum on independence.

Mourinho slams Porto over Casillas contract

The pair infamously fell out during their time together at Real Madrid and the Portuguese is astounded that the goalkeeper will earn a reported €2.4m net

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has blasted Porto’s decision to sign Iker Casillas on a lucrative contract.

Casillas announced earlier this month that he was leaving Real Madrid to move to the Dragao on a two-year deal, with the option of an additional 12 months.

The Spain international is set to earn a net salary of €3.5 million, much to the disbelief of Mourinho, who infamously fell out with Casillas during their time together at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The Chelsea boss was also left aghast at the size of the fee Porto agreed with Marseille for midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

“I cannot believe that Porto have paid €20m for Imbula and are paying Casillas an incredible salary,” Mourinho told The Guardian.

“This kind of spending breaks all rules.”

Mourinho dropped Casillas during his three-year spell in charge of Madrid between 2010 and 2013, replacing the club captain in between the sticks with Diego Lopez.

Man City ‘deal’ in Vietnam will not be a loss: sponsor

Local lender SHB Bank, the main sponsor in bringing English Premier League club Manchester City to play a friendly game in Hanoi next week, has said it will not suffer a loss from this ‘affair’, even though ticket sales have not created a fever as predicted.

Fans queue up for the tickets of the match between Vietnam and Manchester City on July 19, 2015 in Hanoi.

Fans queue up for the tickets of the match between Vietnam and Manchester City on July 19, 2015 in Hanoi.

Man City will play the Vietnamese national football team in a friendly at My Dinh National Stadium at 8:00 pm on July 27.
SHB chairman Do Quang Hien said he spent around US$1.5 million to bring The Citizens to Hanoi.
It also costs the organizer around VND10 billion ($460,000) for the organization, security, tax, transport work and accommodation in a five-star hotel for over 80 Manchester City team members.
However, Hien said that he will not suffer any losses from the event, although the ticket sales for the match have not created a fever as in previous matches with Arsenal in 2013 and the Brazilian national team in 2008.
The organizer expects to earn nearly VND40 billion ($1.84 million) from tickets, which are being sold at four prices: VND1.8 million ($83), VND1.5 million ($69), VND1 million ($46) and VND600,000 ($27.6).
They are the most expensive of any match involving a famous foreign team in Vietnam so far.
In addition, SHB will get $200,000 from advertisements at the stadium, and another amount from television rights.
More importantly, the biggest profit SHB will earn is the chance to promote their trademark and corporate image in the public for a long time after the event.
This benefit cannot be measured and calculated immediately.
