Champions League draw: Barcelona take on Manchester City as Arsenal face Bayern Munich again
Elsewhere there’s a reunion for Didier Drogba and Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid take on Schalke and Manchester United draw Olympiakos at the round of 16 stage
Manchester City against Barcelona is the pick of the ties to emerge from Monday’s Champions League Round of 16 draw in Nyon.
The Spanish champions will face Manuel Pellegrini’s free-scoring side after being drawn first out of the pot in the proceedings. Jose Mourinho faces another reunion with former striker Didier Drogba after his Chelsea side were drawn against Galatasaray, who edged out Juventus on matchday six of the group phase.
Arsenal will face Bayern Munich, meanwhile, in a repeat of their encounter from last season, while fellow Bundesliga outfit Schalke face the daunting task of nine-time champions Real Madrid.
Elsewhere, Manchester United will face Greek champions Olympiakos, while Paris Saint-Germain take on Bundesliga high-flyers Bayer Leverkusen.
AC Milan’s reward for edging into the last 16 is Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid. Finally, Borussia Dortmund – beaten finalists last season – face Russian giants Zenit St Petersburg.
The sides who finished as group runners-up will host the first leg encounters on the February 18/19 and 25/26, while the second legs take place on March 11/12 and 18/19.

AC Milan 2-2 Roma: Muntari denies Giallorossi
The visitors led twice on the night but Massimiliano Allegri’s side displayed admirable character to salvage a point.
Kevin Strootman looked to have sealed the points for Roma with a penalty early in the second period, only for Muntari’s late strike to earn the hosts a share of the spoils.
The Ghana international’s intervention means Rudi Garcia’s men are now five points adrift of champions Juve, while Milan move into the top half of the table.
Allegri made four changes from Milan’s 2-2 draw at Livorno, with Christian Abbiati, Mattia De Sciglio, Daniele Bonera and Muntari all returning to the starting line-up.
Bradley replaced the suspended Miralem Pjanic for the visitors, while Destro started in attack after scoring the winner against Fiorentina last time out.
Roma started the brighter and made their early possession count with the opening goal in the 13th minute.
Adem Llajic and Strootman combined well on the left before the Dutchman rolled the ball into Destro and the Italian striker fired home from six yards.
Despite Roma’s dominance, Milan were level just before the half-hour mark through the unlikely source of Zapata.
Muntari rose unmarked at the front post to flick on a right-wing corner and the Colombian defender ghosted in to head home his first league goal of the season.
Moments later, Roma thought they had gone back in front through Bradley, but the American’s hooked volley bounced on the goal line and spun away to allow Milan to clear to safety.
The hosts were forced into a change at the break as Abbiati was replaced by Gabriel in goal and the 21-year-old had the worst possible start as he gave a penalty away five minutes after the interval.
Gervinho was released behind the Milan defence, only for the Brazilian to bring him down on the left-edge of the area.
Gabriel was booked and Strootman made no mistake from the spot, sending the keeper the wrong way for his fourth Serie A goal.
After Bradley had missed another chance to extend Roma’s lead, the hosts drew level again once more through Muntari on 77 minutes.
The 29-year-old received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, jinked past Dodo and rifled his shot into the bottom corner.
Mario Balotelli had two chances to complete an unlikely turnaround for Milan in the closing minutes as he first saw a vicious 20-yard free-kick parried away by De Sanctis, before then dragging a left-footed shot wide of the post from inside the area in injury-time.
However, Allegri’s team almost conceded with the last kick of the game, when Gervinho shot wide after smartly working an opening for himself.

Sherwood takes over from Villas-Boas
The technical co-ordinator has been handed the reins alongside Les Ferdinand and Chris Ramsey, but will get the job on a full-time basis if he improves results on the pitch.
Tim Sherwood will be appointed the next permanent Tottenham manager if he impresses as interim boss, Goal understands.
Sherwood has been placed in temporary charge of the first team following the sacking of Andre Villas-Boas on Monday morning.
In a statement on Monday evening, Spurs said: “We can announce that Tim Sherwood, Chris Ramsey and Les Ferdinand will take charge of the first team while the club progresses discussions.”
Sources have told Goal that Sherwood, the club’s technical co-ordinator who is close to all-powerful chairman Daniel Levy, is in line to be given the manager’s job on a permanent basis if he can improve the results and playing style.
Sherwood has impressed the Spurs hierarchy with his management of the club’s development team, which has won plaudits for the fluency of its football. The 44-year-old former midfielder is also a member of the Tottenham transfer committee responsible for signing players.
He has initially been handed the reins for Wednesday’s Capital One Cup clash against West Ham, where he will be joined in the dugout by striker coach Les Ferdinand and highly rated development coach Chris Ramsey.
Spurs announced that Villas-Boas’ No2 Steffan Freund and goalkeeping coach Tony Parks will remain on the first-team coaching staff but the Portugese’s countrymen Daniel Souza, Luis Martins and Jose Mario Rocha have left the club.
Villas-Boas was sacked on Monday morning following a hastily arranged board meeting after seeing his side humiliated in a 5-0 defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
The Spurs board want a smooth transition from one regime to another and believe Sherwood’s knowledge of the players and the club’s culture makes him a strong candidate to permanently succeed Villas-Boas.
Goal understands that Spurs have also made contact with Guus Hiddink and Fabio Capello, but the former is committed to the Dutch national team for four years from next summer and the former England manager is on an extremely lucrative package to manage Russia at the 2014 World Cup.
Sherwood spent four years as a player at White Hart Lane between 1993 and 2003 before returning five years later as part of Harry Redknapp’s coaching staff. He was retained by Levy alongside Ferdinand despite Redknapp’s sacking in 2012 and has worked closely with Villas-Boas at Tottenham’s Spurs Lodge training complex in recent months.
Sherwood has been linked with a number of moves away from Spurs over the past 18 months, with the club having rejected an approach from his former club Blackburn in October 2012.

SEA Games 27 Women’s Futsal: Viet Nam to lose 1-6 against Thailand
Thailand’s women Futsal team is always a tough opponent to Vietnamese girls in recent years. In the evening of December 14th, Thailand girls had a convincing 6-1 win over Viet Nam at Wunna Theikdi Stadium.
Vietnamese girls entered game confidently to open for game in 15th minute from Vu Thi Huyen Linh’s score from Thuy An’s corner. Thailand raised higher after this goal against. Right one minute later, Orathai equalized 1-1 for the blues. Thailand girls who owned better experiences and skills totally overwhelmed Vietnamese ones. Sasicha and Darika respectively raised score to 2-1 than 3-1 before the first half ending.
Entering the second half, Viet Nam tried their best but they had to receive more three goals against. The main reason was that our players’ physical strength were weaker. Moreover, Thailand hold too sharp attacks toward Vietnam. Vietnam’s defense wasn’t strong enough to put press under opponents.
Losing 1-6 against Thailand caused Vietnam to stand after Thailand on standing table. In the previous game at 13h00 Malaysia’s women futsal team has to share point with Indonesia after 1-1 draw. In the last round, Viet Nam will face Malaysia at 13h00 on December 18th.
