According to the rule of FIFA and AFC, the mourning ceremony at the stadium is only for ones who concerned with Football. Therefore, U-19 Viet Nam mourned for General Vo Nguyen Giap before the game against U-19 Australia is an exception.

Ngo Le Bang, the general secretary of Viet Nam Football Federation ( VFF) said that: ” The General is an important person who had great contribution to Viet Nam. Therefore, when General Vo Nguyen Giap has gone, we has called  Mr Duong Nghiep Khoi, VFF deputy secretary general to hold mourning ceremony for General. As the regulations, the mourning ceremony is only for the one who concerned with Football. So we had to ask permission from AFC. Luckily, AFC agreed letting U-19 Viet Nam holding the ceremony outside the piste.”

He added ” Holding mourning ceremony for General is a meaningful moment. He has been mirror of the youth for his talent. This’s also the motivation for U-19 Viet Nam tried their hard in the game, then they won 5-1 over U-19 Australia”.

As General Vo Nguyen Giap’s famous quote, U-19 Viet Nam stunned U-19 Australia by a quick and strong game.
