HV-An Giang has been dissolved after one year having played for V-League and then relegation for V-League 2.

In the morning of September 6th, leaders of An Giang province People’s Committee had chaired meeting for Hung Vuong An Giang football club, together with leaders of Culture-Sports and Tourism department, representatives from Hung Vuong An Giang Company and sponsors Hung Vuong Company. The meeting has come to conclusion that HV An Giang should be dissolved and all members will move to football training center which is under management of An Giang Culture-sports and tourism department. An Giang will also concentrate on young football, then they will come back to professional tournaments when they are really ready and strong. This aims to avoid the same situation as 2014 season.

HV An Giang was the pride of An Giang football fans when they played for V – League in 2014 after having waited for 17 years. As agreement to play in V-League, the province had contributed VND15 billion ($714,000), the An Giang Culture, Sports and Tourism Department VND4 billion ($190,400), while Hung Vuong An Giang was supposed to contribute the rest of the amount.

However, when the 2013-14 season ended last month, the company owed about VND10,8 billion ($514,000), leading to a situation that no salary or bonus could be paid to the players. Therefore team showed a worse performance than before. The decision was attributed to shortage of funds as both the An Giang Province and sponsor Hung Vuong An Giang Company failed to collect enough funds to cover the VND40 billion (US$1,900,000) needed to support the club. After hgaving lost 0-3 in play-off game against Can Tho, An Giang officially relegated.

HV An Giang is now official dissolved however the consequence of 1 year playing for V-League is still lasting. An Giang are still in debt with players though managers promised to pay for them however players are looking for a real action than promises.
