The Mexico striker says the Portugal captain has been a big help in his first few weeks at the Santiago Bernabeu

Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez has revealed how Cristiano Ronaldo has helped him to settle at Real Madrid in his early weeks since joining the club.

The Mexico striker arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United and instantly struck up a rapport with the Portugal star as he finds his feet in Spain.

“Cristiano has treated me very well,” Hernandez told AS.

“We can discuss many things that we have in common, but believe me, as in Manchester, every player in the squad is supportive and makes you feel welcome.

“The great thing about the best teams in the world is that every player is aware he is surrounded by the world’s best players and so we all pull together.”

Hernandez found himself surplus to requirements under David Moyes at Man United last season and couldn’t force his way into Louis van Gaal’s plans this term either, though he insists he is upbeat over his future.

“My future is uncertain, but look where I am. I’m playing with the best squad in Europe and I have a fantastic opportunity. I will work and give my best for this club. I’m very content.”
