Sky sources report that Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa has passed a medical at Chelsea and looks poised to complete a move to the Premier League club.

Chelsea are said to have met a buyout clause in the region of £32 million to secure the services of one of the best strikers in European football.

The Brazil-born forward scored 36 goals in 52 games for Atletico this season as they won their first La Liga title and reached the Champions League final.

Costa could not help Los Rojiblancos in the May 24 showpiece in Lisbon but it appeared to have been his last game for the side as the Blues have moved swiftly to reach a deal with the club.

Currently, he is now training with the Spain squad ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.
