Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola says he is proud of how his team performed in their 0-0 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach.

The reigning champions came into the fixture on the back of four league wins, but were unable to add to that tally on Sunday.

But Guardiola says he is happy with his side’s showing as both teams remain unbeaten so far this season.

“I’m very, very proud of my team and the way we played,” the 43-year-old was quoted as saying on his club’s official website.

“We played in a very controlled way and didn’t allow [Monchengladbach to have] any counterattacks in the first half.

“In the second half we were tired of course. We wanted to win, but had lost our shape a little bit and allowed more counterattacks. I am very pleased with our performance and the point.”

Meanwhile, Bayern captain Philipp Lahm echoed his coach’s sentiments.

“For us it is a good result,” said the 30-year-old.

“We did not have so many clear chances, but we had the game under control.

“We wanted to win [but] we are four points ahead [at the top of the Bundesliga table] – everything is okay.”
