Juventus’ climb up the Serie A table continued with a 1-0 victory over AC Milan on Saturday.

A second-half goal from Paulo Dybala was enough for Juve to secure the three points at the Juventus Stadium.

After a dire start to the season, Juventus have won three league matches in succession, and now move past Milan and into sixth place on the standings.

The game got underway amidst tightened secureity following last week’s terror attacks in Paris, and the French anthem was played before the first whistle in Turin and at the day’s early game in Bologna.

In an encounter described by Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic as “an ugly match”, it was Juve midfielder Paul Pogba who nearly opened the scoring on the hour mark, but Milan keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma was able to parry his effort.

Juve didn’t have to wait much longer for the opener though, with Alex Sandro’s cross from the left controlled by Dybala on his chest before powering the ball past Donnarumma from close range.

Earlier in the day at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara where Bologna faced Roma, Mattia Destro proved a thorn in his former club’s side with the Bologna forward’s 87th-minute penalty ensuring that the hosts held Roma to a 2-2.

Adam Masina opened the scoring for Bologna in the 14th minute when he bundled the ball into the back of the net after the ball at ping ponged about in the area when Roma failed to clear a corner from the left.

Seven minutes after the break Roma were level when Miralem Pjanic converted from the spot following Anthony Mounier’s handball.

On-loan striker Edin Dzeko but the visitors ahead in the 72nd minute, with the goal once again coming courtesy of a penalty, this time after Luca Rossettini had fouled Juan Manuel Iturbe.

There would be one further twist in the tale though, with Destro grabbing a late equaliser after Bologna were awarded a penalty of their own after Vasilios Torosidis brought down Emanuele Giaccherini.

The point is enough to see Roma join Fiorentina at the top of the standings, with Viola in action against Empoli on Sunday. Bologna move up one spot to 15th.
