The club have been in talks with the 20-year-old about extending his existing contract which has more than two years to run – but the two sides remain far apart in negotiations.
Liverpool have reportedly offered to increase Sterlings wages from 30,000 per week up to 70,000 but this offer has been rejected by the midfielders representatives.
Despite the unrest regarding his future, Rodgers insists Sterling is content at the club and he is confident the two sides will work out a compromise.
I think if you look at Raheems performances that is what will do the talking, Rodgers said.
I think you see at the moment he is very happy. He is at a club that he loves being at. He enjoys playing here. He has obviously been given an opportunity as a young player.
Its between the club and his representatives to sort out a deal but certainly there has been no unhappiness.
I know Raheem very well and I see him training and playing. At this moment in time, you can he is happy so I am sure that will get sorted out in time.
Rodgers also denied there is a growing imbalance between what his club can achieve in the transfer window compared to Sundays opponents Manchester United.
While he accepts their arch-rivals were far more successful in securing big-name signings in the summer than he was with his own targets he remains confident in the players at his disposal.
“For us at Liverpool we don’t compare to anyone, we look to ourselves and all you can do is make sure you remain solid inside of your work, Rodgers said.
“There will always be things written on the outside and spoken about by people paid and unpaid to be critics but you can’t really affect that.
“They (United) have some outstanding players. They had a good squad before that but they have brought in some very good players and got a very experienced manager leading them.
“But my focus is only on the players we were able to get and work with them.”
