Vietnam will take on Guatemala in their first match at the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 on Monday.

This is a tricky start for Vietnam as the local players currently sit at number 42 in the Futsal World Ranking, whereas Guatemala rank 24th.
The Central American team have also competed at the global event for four times, hence gaining more experience than the Southeast Asian debutants.
Vietnam’s coach Bruno Garcia Formoso said that they need to make all efforts to pull off a positive result.
To secure a place in the round of 16, Vietnam have to outperform their very first rivals on Monday in Group C.
“Making our first appearance at the World Cup, all team members are really eager,” Vietnamese captain Nguyen Bao Quan told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
“What we have gained from the friendly matches with Spain and Argentina greatly builds our confidence for the opening game,” Quan added.
Previously, the Vietnamese have made a miraculous victory over Japan, the 2014 AFC Futsal Champions, in the quarterfinals of the 2016 AFC Futsal Championship and earned a ticket to the Colombia tournament.
A total of 24 teams qualify for the final tournament in Colombia. They compete in six groups of four from September 10 to October 1.
