Vietnam’s top-flight V-League football tournament will likely have record sponsorship for the 2015 season, three times more than previous seasons.

Pham Ngoc Vien, general director of the Vietnam Football Professional (VPF) – a company under the management of the Vietnam Football Federation – said the name of the new sponsor of the 2015 V-League will only be announced at the signing ceremony of the deal on December 30 in Hanoi.

The sponsor of the 2015 V-League is an internationally famous firm, according to a source of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.

The sponsorship for the coming season is around VND100 billion (US$4.8 million), or three times more than the previous seasons, according to a Ho Chi Minh City-based newspaper.

Eximbank, a Vietnamese lender, was the main sponsor of V-League for the four latest seasons, with around VND30 billion ($1.44 million) a year.

Other sponsors for the First Division have also been confirmed, according to the VPF, which is tasked with organizing football tournaments in Vietnam.

The 2015 V-League will be organized in three stages with two breaks, starting on January 4 and ending on September 20.

The league will pause from February 15 to April 12 for Vietnamese national team members to take part in the qualifiers of the 2016 AFC U-23 Championship in Malaysia from March 23 to 31.

The other interval is from May 3 to June 28 to facilitate the Vietnamese national team to compete in the 28th SEA Games in Singapore.
