• Asiad women’s football: South Korea defeats Vietnam 3-0 to bag bronze

    Vietnam women’s football team lost 0-3 to host South Korea in third place playoff match at the 17th Asian Games (Asiad) Wednesday afternoon.

    South Korea pressured Vietnam’s goalkeeper Kieu Trinh right at the beginning of the match at Incheon Stadium, where hundreds of Vietnamese workers had a day-off to support their favorite team.
    Kieu Trinh had a good performance to block several shots by South Korean players and no goal was scored in the first half.
    The second half was no different when Vietnam players mostly defending on home field.
    Kwon Hahnul scored the first goal for South Korea in the 55th minute with a kick from outside the box.
    Three minutes later, Jung Seobin got a ball from a mistake by Kieu Trinh to score the second goal for the home team.
    Park Heeyoung scored the third goal in the 68th minute to secure a bronze medal for South Korea.
    Earlier, Vietnam defeated Thailand 2-1 to advance to their first-ever semifinal match at Asiad when they lost 0-1 to Japan on September 29.
    The final match will take place later today between Japan and North Korea.
