SHB Da Nang 35-year-old midfielder Nguyen Minh Phuong has been named among the top five Southeast Asian veterans by footballchannel.asia.
“Phuong made over 70 appearances for Viet Nam and is still the most-capped Vietnamese footballer in history. His career high was the 2008 AFF Suzuki Cup with Viet Nam. He retired from international football in 2010 after spending 8 years in the national team. In the same year, Phuong switched to SHB Da Nang where he has played since,” the website said.
According to the website, though not a regular member, Phuong still played a big role in the team, which is managed by Le Huynh Duc, another Vietnamese football legend.
The website also mentioned Amri Yahyah, 34, of Malaysia; Bambang Pamungkas, 35, of Indonesia; Daniel Bennett, 37, of Singapore; and Therdsak Chaiman, 41, of Thailand.
