Quang Ninh Coal climbs to top for the first time
A huge surprise from coach Phan Thanh Hung’s team as Quang Ninh Coal are now at No. 1 on the chart after beating Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-1. It is a worthy reward for Quang Ninh’s tireless efforts this season. The victory is also Quang Ninh’s 7th consecutive unbeaten game.
Gia Lai in danger
After four impressive wins in a row against big names Becamex Binh Duong, FLC Thanh Hoa, Long An and Sanna Khanh Hoa BVN, Hoang Anh Gia Lai were defeated last evening by Quang Ninh.
Gia Lai must now compete with penultimate Long An for a safe place to escape from regelation, with three rounds ahead to V-League 2016’s close.
Dong Thap officially relegated
Dong Thap are officially relegated. The 2-4 home loss to FLC Thanh Hoa at Cao Lanh Stadium was Dong Thap’s 17th defeat in this year’s season. After 23 rounds, coach Tran Cong Minh’s players have only eight points, ten points less than penultimate Long An, while V-League 2016 will close after the next three rounds.
Rains of goals
All seven matches in round 23 were with two goals or more. Only the game at Tam Ky Stadium between QNK Quang Nam and Dong Tam Long An had two goals, while the remaining six matches all had more than two. With 29 goals generated in seven games, an average of 4.14 goals per game was set in round 23, 2.7 goals higher than the last round.
