Hosts Hoang Anh Gia Lai were held to a 1-1 draw by Can Tho in a V-League 20th round match Sunday, and both teams continue to struggle to escape relegation.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Can Tho shared 1 points each with a 1-1 draw on August 9.

HAGL tried in vain to get the full three points at home, especially with Sanogo Moussa getting a red card in the 70th minute.
The Central Highlands team began without several key defenders like Duc Luong, Tien Dung, Dong Trieu, and Van Long who were injured or suspended.
Coach Guillaume Graechen had to push midfielder Tuan Anh back to work with Clovis Franklin in defense.
Both Graechen and Can Tho Coach Nguyen Thanh Danh hailed Tuan Anh after the match.
Danh said: “He did very well to coordinate with other players to block several attacks. I would give him 9/10 points. He had an excellent performance.”
Graechen said his players played well, especially after losing a player to a red card just like in the previous match against Quang Ninh.
Can Tho took the lead in the 49th minute but HAGL’s subsequent counterattacks were fruitful with a header by Hoang Thanh Tung leveling the score.
Moussa was sent off for hitting Can Tho’s Tien Thanh off the ball, but Can Tho could not take advantage of it.
Can Tho are still safe with 17 points, followed by two teams in the relegation zone with 14 points each — Hoang Anh Gia Lai and Dong Nai, who lost 1-2 away to Hai Phong the same day.
At the business end of the table, Becamex Binh Duong continued to lead after beating Dong Tam Long An 3-1.
Thanh Hoa remained second a point behind after defeating Quang Ninh 3-1
