Being lead in the first half by U-21 Sydney, U-21 Viet Nam has a excellent came back with 2 goals in second one, then beat Australian Sydney FC 4-1 in a penalty shootout to win the U21 International Thanh Nien Newspaper Cup.
Having defeated 4-0 by U-21 Sydney in the qualifying, Coach Dinh Van Dung and his men are hoped to learn from thart losing to play better in this clash.
Because both have been too familiar, game in the beginning was quite slowly. U-21 Viet Nam started to control the ball with short pass. While the Australia seemed to be complicated with long passes from 2 wings. This playing style caused Viet Nam much troubles to struggle.
In 44th minute, Duy Khanh failed to prevent a long leading, opponents’ Joshua shoot out to open for U-21 Sydney.
After this goal against, Coach Dinh Van Dung immediately sent striker Dinh Bao who has just been back from boots hang fine so that Viet Nam are strengthened in attacking. In 67th minute, Dinh Bao successfully avoided off side trap to defeat goalkeeper Tristan. Viet Nam played more open after draw however there was no more goal for both.
Entering the penalty shoot after 90 official minutes, Goalkeeper Van Cong successfully prevented 2 penalty shoots then helped Viet Nam to win champion title after 4-1 win.
